Under an Albanese Labor Government, Cockburn families will benefit from investment in the fantastic South Lake Ottey Centre.
A multi-functional community facility, the South Lake Ottey Centre has been a vital service hub for the surrounding area for the past 30 years.
The centre provides playgroups, is next door to the local child health nurse unit, and offers a range of other services such as venue hire for community groups, a foodbank, arts classes, and a repair café.
That is why, if elected, an Albanese Labor Government will provide a $20,000 grant to upgrade the South Lake Ottey Centre’s kitchen.
This renewal will enable the South Lake Ottey Centre to resume its popular weekly family meal service, which is currently on hold due to the existing kitchen not meeting recent changes to food safety rule standards.
Labor is committed to ensuring a better future for working families, and knows just how integral playgroups are for both children and parents.
The South Lake Ottey Centre does an amazing job at supporting local parents and caregivers to make friends in a welcoming, safe environment, and giving children access to a range of educational toys and developmental experiences at low or no cost.
If elected, an Albanese Labor Government will continue to invest in local toy libraries and playgroups.
In addition to this grant, an Albanese Labor Government will bring down the cost of childcare for 96 per cent of families in the system.
Labor’s childcare plan will provide immediate relief for tightening household budgets, ensure more children receive the early education they deserve, and better support parents to work the hours they want and need.
