Grants bolster Freo & Cockburn Community groups

Projects for 15 community and sporting groups across the federal electorate of Fremantle are currently at or near completion thanks to a total of $150,000 in Stronger Communities Programme funding.

Two thirds of recipients benefitted from a one-off allowance for the grant to cover 100 per cent of project costs. Ordinarily, the grant covers a maximum of 50 per cent of costs.

“Fundraising opportunities were badly hampered by the COVID19 pandemic and I am glad to have been able to help ensure that our critically important community organisations could proceed with much needed upgrades and improvements,” said Mr Wilson.

“It has been made clearer than ever through this crisis that community connection and interaction are vital to wellbeing as people try to navigate through and cope with the challenges and heartache of the pandemic.”

“I congratulate all the groups and organisations that have found a way to push ahead with their projects in difficult circumstances because by doing so they are creating and sustaining activity and social inclusion in our part of the world.”
