Stronger Communities funding: call for EOIs

Read the Stronger Communities Programme guidelines and submit your project proposal on the Fremantle EOI form by Friday 11 August.

Federal Labor Member for Fremantle, Josh Wilson MP, today invited not-for-profit and local government agencies across the federal electorate of Fremantle to submit an expression of interest (EOI) for funding through AusIndustry’s Stronger Communities Programme (SCP).

Matched funding of between $2,500 and $20,000 may be sought on a dollar-for-dollar basis for eligible small capital works that are aimed at increasing community participation. Grant funding must amount to 50 per cent or less of the project’s value, but the community group contribution can be ‘in kind’.

“The previous two rounds of this grant have delivered almost $300,000 for 20 projects across the electorate — including the provision of equipment for men’s sheds, an oral health clinic for the needy, a community orchard, and a variety of upgrades to community facilities,” said Mr Wilson.

“This third round provides community groups with a fantastic, additional opportunity to accomplish the kind of improvements that will make the greater Fremantle region an even better place to live.”

“I have convened a community consultation panel which will make a preliminary assessment of proposals before inviting formal applications to AusIndustry where the funding decisions will be made.”

“I encourage community groups in need of funding to support an important local project to visit my website — joshwilson.org.au — for SCP guidelines and the Fremantle EOI form, which must be submitted to my office by Friday 11 August.”

Coordinated by MPs, the Stronger Communities Programme provides each of the nation’s 150 federal electorates with up to $150,000 for up to 20 capital projects.
